As you know, this Saturday we are launching preorders on Kickstarter for our children’s book, Alice Eloise’s Silver Linings: The Story of a Silly Service Dog. I want to explain just what Kickstarter is and why we are using it for our preorders.

If you have never backed a project on Kickstarter, no worries, it’s super easy! Basically, Kickstarter is a large crowdfunding platform that gives new projects the opportunity to offer preorders for a limited time, providing funding before the item is fully produced. This allows the creator to use that funding to finish production. This is an all-or-nothing campaign, so if we do not reach our predetermined goal, we will not receive any of the pledges. But if we do reach our goal, YAY! We are able to use those funds to print our book. There is no risk to the buyer, as payment isn’t even accepted until the end of a successful campaign.

Our campaign will run from October 3 – November 2. Launch day is huge on Kickstarter. The better we do on launch day, the more likely we are to reach our goal. So mark your calendars for Saturday, October 3!
